Sporting Kansas City homegrown forward Daniel Salloi earned MLSsoccer.com Team of the Weekand Audi Player Index Performance of the Week honors for the first time in his career on Monday.
The 21-year-old played an instrumental role in Saturday's 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids, scoring the game-winner in the 16th minute and finishing the night with a career-high eight shot attempts. He also hit the woodwork twice and created three chances from the run of play. Salloi's impact was among the biggest in Week 10 as Sporting KC opened a four-point lead at the top of the Western Conference.
Salloi has two goals and four assists in nine MLS appearances this season. Sporting KC is 6-1-1 in the eight games he has started. The Hungary-born forward is the fourth Sporting KC player to deliver the Audi Player Index Performance of the Week, following in the footsteps of midfielder Felipe Gutierrez (Week 2), Tim Melia (Week 6) and midfielder Yohan Croizet (Week 8).
Saturday’s result sets the stage for a mouthwatering cross-conference clash on Wednesday when Sporting KC visits Atlanta United FC in a matchup of the top two teams in the Supporters’ Shield standings. Kickoff at world-class Mercedes Benz Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Kansas City Plus, FOX Sports Midwest Plus, Sports Radio 810 WHB (English) and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM (Spanish).
