At the back end of October it had looked like Lille were getting their season together with wins over Nancy and Bastia but that soon ended as normal service resumed. Back to back losses against PSG and Angers has saw Lille fall to 18th and the dreaded relegation zone. But of course they have time to recover.
One plus for Lille has been manager Frederic Antonetti who has really got to work on the defence. The team has only conceded 4 goals in the last five games, very good considering their lack of depth and league position. In the most recent back to back losses both games ended 1-0. So yes the season does need to be turned around but at least in some part the back four are reacting to this.
For Lyon it’s been mixed emotions so far in Ligue 1 but they are on a two game winning run with victories over Toulouse and Bastia by the same score line of 2-1. Away from home Lyon has won two matches from 6 played.
Lille are only one of four teams who have not drawn any games at home this season.
