Torino vs SPAL: Prediction
Walter Mazzarri’s side remained 9th in the Serie A standings following a six-goal thriller at Marc’Antonio Bentegodi which saw the guests going three goals ahead and Verona staging a great comeback with three goals in a fifteen-minute spell.
With 21 points on the board, Torino are tied with Napoli and AC Milan and seven points off of sixth-placed Atalanta. The Granata have won three of their last five league outings.
‘Il Toro’ logged three wins, two draws and three defeats in their own backyard, scoring a goal per match and conceding 1.25 per bout. They’ve beaten Fiorentina 2-1 in latest home fixture.
Iago Falque, Lyanco, Bonifazi, Parigini and Edera are all out with injuries for the hosts.
SPAL have taken their winless streak to nine games after suffering a 1-3 defeat against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Leonardo Semplici’s men were 1-0 up at half-time, but the free-flowing Giallorossi turned the game around quickly.
With 2 wins, 3 draws and 11 defeats to their name, Gli Spalini are last-placed, six points behind safety and they will be hoping to upset the hosts and take their points tally to double digits.
The Ferrara-based outfit are the league’s worst away side with a sole point from eight road games. They’ve scored two goals and shipped 14 (1.75 per match).
D’Alesandro and Fares are long-term absentees for the guests, Reca is one week away from full fitness.
The hosts are projected to start in attacking 3-4-1-2 formation with Alex Berenguer operating behind Simone Zaza and recovered Andrea Belotti.
I fancy them to score over 1.5 goals in this one, but I don’t trust them to keep a clean sheet after that horror show in last twenty minutes against the Scaligers.
Gli Spalini ended their six-game goal drought on their travels with goals against Inter and Roma and I’m willing to back them to net again.
