The Bavarians seem simply unstoppable at the moment. Led by the genius of Hans-Dieter Flick, the Germans have turned themselves into a juggernaut that has run over many a prominent team this season – both in domestic as well as continental competitions.
As of now, they are just 90 minutes away from completing a famous treble – a feat that would have seemed impossible earlier in the season, when the Germans were under the tutelage of Niko Kovac.
Another German gaffer will stand in their way, in the form of Thomal Tuchel, who sits in the dugouts of the Parisians.
The French contingent might lack in their midfield and defense, but they have overcompensated for it with possibly the best frontline in the world at the moment.
The combination of Neymar Jr’s flair, Kylian Mbappe’s pace, Angel Di Maria’s trickery, and Mauro Icardi’s aerial prowess, has simply been too much for any team to cope with.
And it’s no wonder that they are on the verge of completing a quadruple.
Regarding the result of this European showdown though, the Bavarians seem the favorites – as they have a well-rounded team guided by the tactical genius that is Flick, as opposed to the plethora of individual talent that the Parisians have – who ultimately do not have the same cohesion.
Bayern Munich vs PSG: Head-to-head (h2h)
These two had locked horns in the Group Stages of the 2017-18 CL. Then, the Ligue 1 champions won 3-0 at home, while their opposite number won 3-1 at the Allianz Arena.
The clashes before that had come almost 20 years back. The French team have dominated these matches, as they have won four of these six fixtures.
Four of the total eight clashes had three or more goals.
Of the total eight meetings between the two, seven were won by teams at home.
Bayern Munich vs PSG: Prediction
The Germans are on an impressive 21-game winning run, and also had won 28 of their last 30 fixtures.
They have shown no mercy to any opponent en route to their possible treble, and with the titans of European football going through a period of transition, Flick’s men have the opportunity to reign at the top unopposed at least for the next few years.
And it’s important that they win the CL for that to happen.
Compared to Tuchel’s men, where the Bundesliga winners come ahead is the fact that they concentrate more on dominating as a unit, rather than rely on moments of individual brilliance from the likes of Neymar Jr.
And as was seen earlier, Barca who relied too much on Leo Messi to bail them out of tough spots, were absolutely demolished in their Quarter-Final fixture.
Moreover, it seems that Mbappe, Neymar etc have been wasteful in front of the goal lately, and with Manuel Neuer in front of the goal, you have to be at your lethal best to slot at least one ball in.
And the pacy fullbacks of the Munich outfit would act as a good counter to the terrifying wingers of the Ligue 1 champions.
Furthermore, with Robert Lewandowski possibly enjoying the best season of his career, it should not be too much trouble to score one or two against the replacement keeper of Tuchel, as Keylor Navas has been ruled out due to injury.
It also should be noted that Lewa has the opportunity to match the best goal-scoring campaign by any player in a single CL season, with just two more goals. We can count on him to give his everything to go after this record.
Going on, despite the French contingent reaching the final, it has to be a little worrisome that they have had an easy path till here. In fact, Flick’s men would be the first major team that they have had to encounter this whole season.
As such, expect Bayern Munich to complete a famous treble this Sunday at the Estádio da Luz.
In terms of goals though, we need to understand that the Parisians dumped money into their project with the sole aim of winning the European crown, and they are just 90 minutes away from it too.
They would be desperate as well for glory, and it would be an absolute travesty if the best frontline in football fails to score at least once.
Moreover, with the high defensive line that the Bavarians use, it’s thought that Tuchel’s men should find the target a minimum of once this weekend.
