Bandari forward Shaban Kenga was delighted by the team's performance as his side beat Wazito FC on Friday 6th in a Kenyan Premier League match staged at Mbaraki Sports Club.
Bandari ended their poor run in the KPL as they beat visiting Wazito 4-1 with Kenga, who was the man of the match netting a brace. The forward, who captained the Dockers on Friday admitted the team had a lapse after the opening matches which saw them suffer five defeats.
"I am really happy, we've been waiting for this win for long and finally, we got a heavy victory at home," he told reporters after the match.
On league
"This league is a marathon, and we started well but there was some lapse, I really don't know what happened maybe fatigue. But players have shown character, 4-1 is a big margin win, am really happy we picked maximum points."
On his goal
Kenga scored one of the most beautiful goals this season, completing his brace of the day as Bandari extended their lead to three. He was put through on goal and chipped the ball passed on coming Wazito keeper.
"It is just anticipation and awareness, you monitor where the ball is heading and goalkeeper's position. I had already seen the ball before the keeper came off, all I need is one touch to score and I knew where I was going to place the ball."
Dressing room
"We need to show character in the upcoming matches as we did against Wazito at home. It is a marathon and we need to continue with good form, in this league we don't have a home and away fixtures," Kenga responded when asked if the win will boost the team's morale in the dressing room.
Bandari, who are 12th on the log after eleven matches will take on Kisumu All Stars next Saturday.
