Rosenborg vs Valur
UEFA Champions League
Date: Wednesday, 18 July 2018
Kick-Off at 18:45 UK / 19:45 CET
Venue: Lerkendal Stadion, Trondheim.
Valur stunner favourites Rosenborg 1-0 I the first leg of their Champions League tie in Reykjavik meaning we could be in for a real drama when teams meet seven days later for the reverse fixture in Trondheim. It was Eidur Sigurbjornsson whose goal made all the difference between the two teams with just six minutes remaining on the clock.
Valur, who took their first Icelandic silverware in ten years in the previous term of Urvalsdeild, thus gained a huge opportunity to make a true sensation against the Norwegian heavyweights. The second leg will be a story of its kind, though, as Kare Ingebrigtsen’s troops will be much more dangerous in front of their fans. Also, Rosenborg should be stronger for Danish star Nicklas Bendtner who could make his appearance here after skipping the match at Vodafonevollurinn.

Rosenborg vs Valur: Head-to-head

The match played seven days ago in Reykjavik was the first ever head to head clash between Valur and Rosenborg.
It was generally an open affair which could have gone either way, but it’s Valur who came on top at the end thanks to a late winner from Sigurbjornsson.

Rosenborg vs Valur: Prediction

Rosenborg made a somewhat slower start to the new Eliteserien campaign but their domestic form has seen a massive rise of late. The hosts won three on the bounce in the league to narrow the gap behind leaders Brann down to just two points after 16 rounds of the competition.
They have a much more significant European experience than Valur given that the visitors only featured the European scene in four of last ten years (all four in Europa League), mainly ending campaigns in first qualifying rounds.
Rosenborg went past Irish Dundalk last year only to be eliminated 0-2 on aggregate to Celtic in the third qualifying round. A potential elimination to the likes of Valur would be a massive upset as we expect the hosts to confirm the difference in quality and pick up a comprehensive victory here. The main bet is Rosenborg to win by two or more goals at 1.80, while you can also back the hosts to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at 1.66.
